Adhyāya 45 — Duryodhana’s Distress, Śakuni’s Counsel, and the Summons for Dyūta

ये त्वां दासमराजानं बाल्यादर्चन्ति दुर्मतिम्‌ अनर्हमर्हवत्‌ कृष्ण वध्यास्त इति मे मति:,“तुम कंसके दास थे तथा राजा भी नहीं हो, इसीलिये राजोचित पूजाके अनधिकारी हो। तो भी कृष्ण! जो लोग मूर्खतावश तुम-जैसे दुर्बुद्धिकी पूजनीय पुरुषकी भाँति पूजा करते हैं, वे अवश्य ही मेरे वध्य हैं, मैं तो ऐसा ही मानता हूँ”

ye tvāṁ dāsam arājānaṁ bālyād arcanti durmatim | anarham arhavat kṛṣṇa vadhyās ta iti me matiḥ ||

ഹേ കൃഷ്ണാ! ബാല്യകാലം മുതൽ ദാസനായി, രാജാവുമല്ലാത്ത നിന്നെ, അർഹതയില്ലാത്തവനെയെങ്കിലും അർഹനെന്നു കരുതി രാജോചിത ബഹുമാനത്തോടെ പൂജിക്കുന്നവർ—എന്റെ വിധിയിൽ വധ്യരാണ്; ഇതാണ് എന്റെ ദൃഢനിശ്ചയം.
