भुक्तमेतेन बद्धन्नं क्रीडता नगमूर्थनि । इति ते भीष्म शृण्वाना: परे विस्मयमागता:,भीष्म! कृष्णने गोवर्धनपर्वतके शिखरपर खेलते हुए अकेले ही बहुत-सा अन्न खा लिया, यह बात भी तुम्हारे मुँहले सुनकर दूसरे लोगोंको ही आश्चर्य हुआ होगा (मुझे नहीं)
bhuktam etena baddhānnaṁ krīḍatā nagamūrdhani | iti te bhīṣma śṛṇvānāḥ pare vismayam āgatāḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മാ! ‘പർവ്വതശിഖരത്തിൽ കളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കെ അവൻ ഒറ്റയ്ക്കായി ധാരാളം പാകാന്നം കഴിച്ചു’ എന്ന് നിന്റെ വായിൽ നിന്ന് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ മറ്റുള്ളവരേ വിസ്മയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാകൂ; ഞാൻ അല്ല.
