evam uktas tataḥ kṛṣṇaḥ pratyuvāca vṛkodaram | tvarayan puruṣa-vyāghro jarāsandha-vadhepsayā ||
Dharma in governance sometimes requires firm, timely action against oppressive power. Kṛṣṇa’s urging highlights responsible leadership: choosing the proper means and the proper person (Bhīma) to remove a threat (Jarāsandha) so that a larger righteous order can proceed.
After Bhīma speaks, Kṛṣṇa responds directly to him, energizing and pressing him forward. The immediate narrative purpose is to set in motion the plan to kill Jarāsandha, a key obstacle to Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rājasūya and a dangerous ruler who must be confronted.
