सनागप्त्त्यश्वरथे उभे बले विचित्रवर्माभरणाम्बरायुधे । चकम्पतुर्विस्मयनीयरूपे वियद्गताश्चार्जुनकर्णसंयुगे
sanāgapattyaśvarathe ubhe bale vicitravarmābharaṇāmbarāyudhe | cakampatur vismayanīyarūpe viyadgatāś cārjunakarṇasaṃyuge ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ആന, കുതിര, രഥം, പടയാളി എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെട്ട ഇരുപക്ഷങ്ങളുടെയും ചതുരംഗിണീ സേനകൾ, വർണ്ണവൈവിധ്യമുള്ള കവചം-ആഭരണം-വസ്ത്രം-ആയുധം ധരിച്ച്, അർജുനനും കർണനും തമ്മിലുള്ള ആ അത്ഭുതദ്വന്ദ്വയുദ്ധം കണ്ടു ഭയവും വിസ്മയവും കൊണ്ട് വിറച്ചു. ആകാശത്തിൽ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന ജീവികളും ഭയത്തിൽ നടുങ്ങി।
