विसृज्य सूतपुत्रस्य सेनां भारत सायकै: । प्राहिणोन्मृत्युलोकाय परवीरान् धनंजय:,संजय कहते हैं--राजन्! कौरव-सेनाके प्रमुख वीरोंने कुन्तीपुत्र भीमसेनपर धावा किया था और वे उस सैन्यसागरमें डूबते-से जान पड़ते थे। भारत! उस समय उनका उद्धार करनेके लिये अर्जुनने सूतपुत्रकी सेनाको छोड़कर उधर ही आक्रमण किया और बाणोंद्वारा शत्रुपक्षके बहुत-से वीरोंको यमलोक भेज दिया
visṛjya sūtaputrasya senāṃ bhārata sāyakaiḥ | prāhiṇon mṛtyulokāya paravīrān dhanaṃjayaḥ ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! സൂതപുത്രന്റെ സൈന്യത്തെ വിട്ടുവെച്ച് ധനഞ്ജയൻ (അർജുനൻ) മറ്റൊരു ദിശയിലേക്ക് ആക്രമണം തിരിച്ചു. യുദ്ധപ്രവാഹത്തിൽ അമർന്നു പോകുന്ന തന്റെ പക്ഷത്തെ രക്ഷിക്കാനായി, അവൻ അമ്പുകളാൽ വിരോധിപക്ഷത്തിലെ അനേകം വീരന്മാരെ മൃത്യുലോകത്തിലേക്ക് (യമലോകത്തിലേക്ക്) അയച്ചു।
