Cosmic Spectatorship and Vows
प्रगृह् विजयं वीरो धनु: श्रेष्ठ पुरातनम् । सज्यं कृत्वा महाराज संगृहा[ च पुनः पुन:
pragṛhya vijayaṃ vīro dhanuḥ śreṣṭhaṃ purātanam | sajyaṃ kṛtvā mahārāja saṃgṛhya ca punaḥ punaḥ ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു— വീരൻ പുരാതനവും ശ്രേഷ്ഠവുമായ ‘വിജയ’ ധനുസ്സിനെ എടുത്തു; മഹാരാജാവേ, അതിൽ ഞാണേറി വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ദൃഢമായി പിടിച്ചു.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined preparedness: a warrior does not rely on impulse but repeatedly checks and readies his weapon, symbolizing steadiness, vigilance, and resolve amid the moral pressure of battle.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a heroic fighter takes up the ancient bow named Vijaya and repeatedly strings and grips it, indicating immediate preparation for combat and a deliberate testing of readiness.
