तदभूत् तुमुल॑ युद्ध वृष्णिपार्षतयो रणे । आमिषार्थे यथा युद्ध श्येनयो: क्रुद्धयोर्नुप,नरेश्वर! जैसे मांसके टुकड़ेके लिये दो बाज क्रोधपूर्वक लड़ रहे हों, उसी प्रकार उस रणक्षेत्रमें कृतवर्मा और धृष्टद्युम्नका घोर युद्ध होने लगा
tad abhūt tumulaṁ yuddhaṁ vṛṣṇipārṣatayor raṇe | āmiṣārthe yathā yuddhaṁ śyenayoḥ kruddhayor nṛpa-nareśvara ||
നരേശ്വരാ! യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ വൃഷ്ണിയും പാർഷതനും തമ്മിൽ ഘോരമായ, കോലാഹലപൂർണ്ണമായ യുദ്ധം പൊട്ടിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടു. മാംസക്കഷണത്തിനായി ക്രുദ്ധരായ രണ്ടു പരുന്തുകൾ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടുന്നതുപോലെ, ആ ഭീകര ദ്വന്ദ്വം ജ്വലിച്ചു.
