तोरणप्रतिमं शुभ्र॑ किरीटं मूर्थ्यशोभत । वह अपनी छातीपर सुवर्णमय निष्क (पदक) पहनकर अग्निकी माला धारण किये पर्वतके समान प्रतीत होता था। उसके मस्तकपर सोनेका बना हुआ विचित्र उज्ज्वल मुकुट तोरणके समान सुशोभित हो रहा था। उस मुकुटकी विविध अंगोंसे बड़ी शोभा हो रही थी
sañjaya uvāca | toraṇapratimaṃ śubhraṃ kirīṭaṃ mūrdhny aśobhata | talatalena saṃhatya saṃdaśya daśanacchadam | ratham āsthāya ca punar māyayā nirmitaṃ tadā |
അവന്റെ ശിരസ്സിൽ തോരണത്തെപ്പോലെ ദീപ്തമായ, വിചിത്ര സ്വർണ്ണകിരീടം ശോഭിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവൻ കൈപ്പത്തികൾ തമ്മിൽ ഉരച്ച്, പല്ലുകൊണ്ട് അധരം കടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, മായയാൽ നിർമ്മിതമായ രഥത്തിൽ വീണ്ടും കയറി, തന്റെ സാരഥിയോട് പറഞ്ഞു—“എന്നെ സൂതപുത്രൻ കർണ്ണന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുപോവുക।”
