'जैसे पूर्वकालमें स्कन्दके साथ रहकर इन्द्रने तारकासुरका वध किया था, उसी प्रकार तुम भी सात्यकिकी सहायता पाकर रणभूमिमें शूरवीर कर्णको मार डालो” ।।
ghaṭotkaca uvāca | evam eva mahābāho yathā vadasi māṃ prabho | tvayā niyukto gacchāmi karṇasya vadhakāṅkṣayā || alam evāsmi karṇāya droṇāyālaṃ ca bhārata | anyeṣāṃ kṣatriyāṇāṃ ca kṛtāstrāṇāṃ mahātmanām ||
പൂർവ്വകാലത്ത് സ്കന്ദനോടൊപ്പം നിന്നുകൊണ്ട് ഇന്ദ്രൻ താരകാസുരനെ വധിച്ചതുപോലെ, നീയും സാത്യകിയുടെ സഹായത്തോടെ യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ ശൂരനായ കർണനെ വധിക്ക. ഘടോത്കചൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മഹാബാഹോ, പ്രഭോ! നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നെയാണ്. നിങ്ങളുടെ നിയോഗപ്രകാരം ഞാൻ കർണവധസങ്കൽപ്പത്തോടെ പുറപ്പെടുന്നു. ഓ ഭാരതാ! കർണനെ നേരിടാൻ ഞാൻ സമർത്ഥനാണ്; ദ്രോണാചാര്യനെയും ഞാൻ നന്നായി പ്രതിരോധിക്കാം; ആയുധവിദ്യയിൽ പ്രാവീണ്യമുള്ള ആ മറ്റു മഹാത്മ ക്ഷത്രിയരോടും ഞാൻ പോരാടാൻ കഴിയും.
