Droṇa’s sweeping assault and the Abhimanyu–Jayadratha close-quarters episode (द्रोणस्य भीषणव्यचरितम् / सौभद्र-जयद्रथ-संनिपातः)
प्रपतेद् द्यौ: सनक्षत्रा पृथिवी शकलीभवेत्
prapated dyauḥ sanakṣatrā pṛthivī śakalībhavet, āptair āśu parijñātaṃ bhāradvāja-cikīrṣitam |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളോടുകൂടി ആകാശം തന്നെ വീണാലും, ഭൂമി തകർന്നു കഷണങ്ങളായാലും; ഭാരദ്വാജപുത്രൻ ദ്രോണന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശം വിശ്വസ്ത വിവരദാതാക്കളിലൂടെ വേഗത്തിലും കൃത്യതയിലും അറിയപ്പെട്ടു. ദ്രോണൻ യുധിഷ്ഠിരനെ പിടികൂടുമെന്നു പ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ സൈന്യം സിംഹനാദം മുഴക്കി ഭുജങ്ങളിൽ അടിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ ജാഗ്രതയുള്ള ധർമ്മരാജൻ യുധിഷ്ഠിരൻ ഉടൻ എല്ലാം അറിഞ്ഞ് യഥോചിതമായ ഒരുക്കം ചെയ്തു.
