Droṇa-parva 112: Karṇa–Bhīma Engagement and Duryodhana’s Protective Order
tatrārāvo mahān āsīd droṇam ekaṃ yuyutsatām | pāṇḍavānāṃ ca bhadre te sṛñjayānāṃ ca sarvaśaḥ ||
The verse highlights the ethical strain of dharma in war: even a venerable teacher like Drona becomes a necessary opponent when allegiance and duty divide. It underscores how righteous intent and obligation can still generate immense violence and turmoil.
Sañjaya reports that a tremendous clamor erupts as the Pāṇḍavas and their Sṛñjaya allies converge from all directions, intent on engaging Drona, who stands as a singular, formidable focus of combat.
