The Tumult of Battle Described
स संवार्य बलौघांस्तान् गदया रथिनां वर: । अतिष्ठत् तुमुले भीमो गिरिमेंरुरिवाचल:,रथियोंमें श्रेष्ठ भीमसेन उस सारे सैन्यसमूहको गदाद्वारा रोककर उस भयंकर युद्धमें मेरु पर्वतके समान अविचलभावसे खड़े रहे
sa saṃvārya balaughāṃs tān gadayā rathināṃ varaḥ | atiṣṭhat tumule bhīmo girimerur ivācalaḥ ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രഥികളിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ ഭീമൻ ഗദയാൽ ആ സൈന്യസമൂഹത്തെ തടഞ്ഞുനിർത്തി, ആ ഘോര കലഹയുദ്ധത്തിൽ മേരു പർവ്വതംപോലെ അചലനായി നിലകൊണ്ടു.
संजय उवाच
The verse presents an ethic of controlled strength: true martial excellence is not mere aggression but steadiness, restraint, and the capacity to hold the line under pressure—qualities expected of a kṣatriya in righteous warfare.
Sañjaya describes Bhīma confronting a large enemy host. Using his mace, he checks their advance and stands unwavering in the thick of the battle, compared to the immovable cosmic mountain Meru.
