Garuḍa Array and the Ardhacandra Counter-Formation

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the fragility of embodied power in war: even the strongest warrior with armor can be struck down instantly. It evokes an ethical reflection on the catastrophic force unleashed in battle and the inevitability of death when adharma-driven violence escalates.

Sañjaya describes a blazing arrow that pierces Śveta’s armor and heart and then buries itself in the earth. The event is portrayed as so extraordinary that beings across realms—gods, Gandharvas, Piśācas, Nāgas, and Rākṣasas—witness it.
