സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു— രാജാവേ! ജലത്തിൽ നാല് ഗുണങ്ങളേ ഉള്ളൂ; അവിടെ ഗന്ധം ഇല്ല. തേജസ് (അഗ്നി)ക്ക് മൂന്ന് ഗുണങ്ങൾ—ശബ്ദം, സ്പർശം, രൂപം. വായുവിന് രണ്ട്—ശബ്ദവും സ്പർശവും; ആകാശത്തിന് ഒരേയൊരു ഗുണം—ശബ്ദം മാത്രം.
