Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how martial identity and authority are signaled through emblems and standards; in the ethical backdrop of the Mahābhārata, such splendor is transient and stands in tension with the grave consequences of war.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Jayadratha is positioned at the front of the formation, conspicuous on his chariot, marked by a prominent silver banner bearing a boar emblem.
