Educational Q&A

The verse underscores that actions—especially collective violence—unfold within a larger moral and cosmic order. The ominous celestial signs function as a reminder that adharma and mass destruction carry grave consequences, urging discernment and responsibility even amid inevitable conflict.

Sañjaya reports astronomical/astrological portents on the eve of battle: the Moon is in the Maghā nakṣatra, and seven major grahas appear intensely radiant in the sky. These signs heighten the sense of impending catastrophe surrounding the Kurukṣetra war.
