कि ते विवक्षया वीर जहि भीष्मं महारथम्‌ । न हान्यमनुपश्यामि कज्चिद्‌ यौधिष्ठिरे बले,“वीर! इस विषयमें बार-बार विचारने या संदेह निवारणके लिये कुछ कहनेकी आवश्यकता नहीं है। तुम महारथी भीष्मको शीघ्र मार डालो। युधिष्ठिरकी सेनामें तुम्हारे सिवा दूसरे किसीको ऐसा नहीं देखता, जो समरभूमिमें भीष्मका सामना कर सके। पुरुषसिंह! मैं तुमसे यह सच्ची बात कह रहा हूँ

sañjaya uvāca |

kiṁ te vivakṣayā vīra jahi bhīṣmaṁ mahāratham |

na hi anyam anupaśyāmi kaścid yudhiṣṭhire bale ||

സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—വീരാ, ഇനി എന്ത് പറയണം? വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ആലോചന എന്തിന്? ആ മഹാരഥനായ ഭീഷ്മനെ വീഴ്ത്തുക. യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ ഭീഷ്മനെ നേരിടാൻ നിനക്കൊഴികെ യുദ്ധിഷ്ഠിരന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിൽ മറ്റാരെയും ഞാൻ കാണുന്നില്ല.
