Adhyāya 112: Bhīṣma-prati Arjunasya Pravṛttiḥ

Arjuna’s Forward Drive Toward Bhīṣma

वध्यमानस्य सैन्यस्य सर्वरेतैर्महारथै: । नान्यां गतिं प्रपश्यामि स्थाने युद्धे च भारत,“भारत! इन सब महारथियोंद्वारा मारी जाती हुई अपनी सेनाको मैं युद्धमें ठहरानेके लिये आपके सिवा दूसरा कोई आश्रय नहीं देखता। देवतुल्य पराक्रमी पुरुषसिंह! केवल आप ही उसकी रक्षामें समर्थ हैं। अतः हम पीड़ितोंके लिये आप शीघ्र ही आश्रयदाता होइये'

sañjaya uvāca |

vadhyamānasya sainyasya sarvair etair mahārathaiḥ |

nānyāṃ gatiṃ prapaśyāmi sthāne yuddhe ca bhārata ||

സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ഹേ ഭാരതാ! ഈ മഹാരഥന്മാരാൽ നമ്മുടെ സൈന്യം എല്ലാടവും വധിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ, യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ നിലകൊള്ളാനോ യുദ്ധം തുടരാനോ നിനക്കൊഴികെ മറ്റൊരു മാർഗം ഞാൻ കാണുന്നില്ല. അതിനെ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ ശേഷിയുള്ളത് നീ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം; അതിനാൽ പീഡിതരായ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് വേഗം ആശ്രയമാകുക.
