महौघवेगं समरे वारयामास पाण्डव: । मद्रराजं च समरे धर्मराजो महारथ:,उस समय सहसा अपनी ओर आती हुई राजा शल्यकी उस विशाल वाहिनी तथा स्वयं मद्रराजको भी पाण्डुपुत्र महारथी धर्मराज युधिष्ठिरने महान् जल-प्रवाहके समान समरभूमिमें रोक दिया

mahaughavegaṃ samare vārayāmāsa pāṇḍavaḥ |
madra-rājaṃ ca samare dharma-rājo mahā-rathaḥ ||
യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പാണ്ഡവ മഹാരഥൻ ധർമ്മരാജൻ യുധിഷ്ഠിരൻ മഹാപ്രവാഹത്തിന്റെ വേഗംപോലെ വന്ന ആ കുതിപ്പിനെ തടഞ്ഞു; അതേ സമരത്തിൽ മദ്രരാജനെയും കൂടി നിർത്തി।
