धृतराष्ट्रस्य पाण्डवेषु प्रीति-वृत्तान्तः | Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Affectionate Disposition toward the Pāṇḍavas
स मां त्वं यदि राजेन्द्र परित्यज्य गमिष्यसि | पृष्ठतस्त्वनुयास्थामि सत्यमात्मानमालभे,राजन्! यदि आप मुझे छोड़कर चले जायूँगे तो मैं अपनी सौगन्ध खाकर सत्य कहता हूँ कि मैं भी आपके पीछे-पीछे चल दूँगा
sa māṁ tvaṁ yadi rājendra parityajya gamiṣyasi | pṛṣṭhatas tv anuyāsthāmi satyam ātmānam ālabhe, rājan |
യുധിഷ്ഠിരൻ പറഞ്ഞു— രാജേന്ദ്രാ! നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ വിട്ട് പോകുകയാണെങ്കിൽ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി സത്യം പറയുന്നു— ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിന്നാലെ തന്നെ വരും.
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights satya (truthfulness) and steadfast loyalty: Yudhiṣṭhira binds himself by an oath, showing that ethical commitment is not merely spoken but personally pledged, especially in matters of duty toward elders and rightful authority.
In the context of Āśramavāsika, the elder king is preparing to depart for a life of renunciation. Yudhiṣṭhira declares that if the king leaves him behind, he will nonetheless follow, swearing by his own self that he will go after him.
