कृत्वाग्नौकरणं पूर्व मन्त्रपूर्व तपोधन । ततो5ग्नये5थ सोमाय वरुणाय च नित्यश:

Transliteration

kṛtvāgnaukaraṇaṃ pūrvaṃ mantrapūrva tapodhana | tato 'gnaye 'tha somāya varuṇāya ca nityaśaḥ ||

Translation

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ തപോധന, വേദമന്ത്രോച്ചാരണപൂർവം ആദ്യം അഗ്നൗകരണകർമ്മം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി, തുടർന്ന് നിത്യമായി അഗ്നിക്കും സോമനും വരുണനും അവരുടെ നിശ്ചിത ഭാഗങ്ങൾ വിധിപൂർവം അർപ്പിക്കണം; ഇങ്ങനെ ക്രമാനുസൃതമായ ആരാധനയാൽ ധർമ്മത്തിന്റെ അധാരമായ ദേവശക്തികൾ നിലനിൽക്കും.
