अमावास्यां महाप्राज्ञो विप्रानानाय्य पूजितान्‌ | दक्षिणावर्तिका: सर्वा बृसी: स्वयमथाकरोत्‌

amāvāsyāṁ mahāprājño viprān ānāyya pūjitān | dakṣiṇāvartikāḥ sarvā bṛsīḥ svayam athākarot |

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“അമാവാസ്യ ദിനത്തിൽ ആ മഹാപ്രാജ്ഞ മുനി ബ്രാഹ്മണരെ വിളിച്ചു വരുത്തി പൂജിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവൻ സ്വന്തം കൈകളാൽ കുശപ്പുല്ലുകൊണ്ട് ഇരിപ്പിടങ്ങൾ ഒരുക്കി—എല്ലാം ദക്ഷിണാവർത്തമായി, മംഗളാർത്ഥം വലത്തോട്ടു തിരിഞ്ഞവ—അവയിൽ അവരെ ഇരുത്തി.”
