आर्जवे च तथा शूरा: शमे वर्तन्ति मानवा: । तैस्तैश्न नियमै: शूरा बहव: सन्ति चापरे । वेदाध्ययनशूराश्व शूराश्षाध्यापने रता:

Transliteration

ārjave ca tathā śūrāḥ śame vartante mānavāḥ | tais taiś ca niyamaiḥ śūrā bahavaḥ santi cāpare | vedādhyayanaśūrāś ca śūrāś cādhyāpane ratāḥ |

Translation

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ചിലർ ആർജവത്തിൽ (സരളതയിൽ) ശൂരന്മാർ; ചിലർ ശമത്തിൽ (മനോനിഗ്രഹത്തിൽ) ശൂരന്മാർ. വിവിധ നിയമങ്ങൾ അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ പലരും ശൂരന്മാരായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ചിലർ വേദാധ്യയനത്തിൽ ശൂരന്മാർ; ചിലർ അധ്യാപനത്തിൽ നിരതരായി ശൂരന്മാർ.
