शूरा बहुविधा: प्रोक्तास्तेषामर्थास्तु मे शृणु । शूरान्वयानां निर्दिष्ट फलं शूरस्य चैव हि
bhīṣma uvāca | śūrā bahuvidhāḥ proktās teṣām arthāṁs tu me śṛṇu | śūrānvayānāṁ nirdiṣṭaṁ phalaṁ śūrasya caiva hi ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ശൂരന്മാരുടെ പലവിധങ്ങൾ പ്രസ്താവിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്; അവയുടെ ഉദ്ദേശ്യാർത്ഥം എന്നിൽ നിന്നു കേൾക്കുക. അത്തരം ശൂരന്മാരുടെ വംശജർക്കും സ്വയം ശൂരനുമുള്ളതായി നിർദ്ദേശിച്ച ഫലവും ഞാൻ പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു.
