अहं वो रक्षितेत्युक्त्वा यो न रक्षति भूमिप: । स संहत्य निहन्तव्य: श्वेव सोन्न्माद आतुर:
ahaṃ vo rakṣiteti uktvā yo na rakṣati bhūmipaḥ | sa saṃhatya nihantavyaḥ śveva sonmāda āturaḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും സംരക്ഷിക്കാത്ത ഭൂപതി, എല്ലാവരും ഒന്നിച്ചു ചേർന്ന് വധിക്കേണ്ടവൻ—ഭ്രാന്തുപിടിച്ച നായയെപ്പോലെ.
