Nakṣatra-yoga-anusāreṇa Dāna-vidhiḥ
Gifts prescribed according to lunar mansions and yogas
याच्यमाहुरनीशस्य अभिहारं च भारत | उद्वेजयन्ति याचन्ति सदा भूतानि दस्युवत्,भारत! दरिद्रकी याचना उसके लिये तिरस्कारका कारण मानी गयी है; क्योंकि याचक प्राणी लुटेरोंकी भाँति सदा लोगोंको उद्विग्न करते रहते हैं
yācyam āhur anīśasya abhihāraṃ ca bhārata | udvejayanti yācanti sadā bhūtāni dasyuvat, bhārata! |
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ ഭാരതാ! സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യമില്ലാത്ത, ശക്തിയില്ലാത്തവന്റെ ഭാഗ്യമായി യാചനയെ പറയുന്നു; അതിനെ ഒരു തരത്തിലുള്ള അപമാനമായും കണക്കാക്കുന്നു. കാരണം നിരന്തരം അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ജീവികൾ കള്ളന്മാരെപ്പോലെ ആളുകളെ എപ്പോഴും ഉത്കണ്ഠപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു—വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ചോദിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്.
