Educational Q&A

Supporting and honoring Brahmins who embody purity, self-control, and marital fidelity is presented as a dharmic act whose benefit returns to the king as worldly welfare and good repute.

In the Anushasana Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhishma addresses Yudhishthira and recommends that the king direct beneficent actions toward disciplined, virtuous Brahmins; such conduct is said to bring auspicious results for the ruler in society.
