Adhyāya 59: On Giving to the Asker and Supporting the Non-asking (याचक-अयाचक-दाने धर्मः)
बाढमेवं करिष्यामि काम त्वत्तो महामुने । ब्रह्मभूतं कुलं मे5स्तु धर्मे चास्य मनो भवेत्
bāḍham evaṁ kariṣyāmi kāma tvatto mahāmune | brahmabhūtaṁ kulaṁ me 'stu dharme cāsya mano bhavet ||
രാജാവ് പറഞ്ഞു—“ശരി, അങ്ങനെ തന്നെയാകും ഞാൻ ചെയ്യുക. എന്നാൽ, മഹാമുനേ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോട് ഒരു വരം അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു—എന്റെ വംശം ബ്രാഹ്മണസദൃശമായ സ്വഭാവം പ്രാപിക്കട്ടെ; അതിന്റെ മനസ്സ് സദാ ധർമ്മത്തിൽ നിവേശിതമായിരിക്കട്ടെ।”
