अन्न पानं च माल्यं च वासांस्याभरणानि च । ब्राह्मण्यैतानि देयानि भर्तु: सा हि गरीयसी

Transliteration

anna-pānaṃ ca mālyaṃ ca vāsāṃsy ābharaṇāni ca | brāhmaṇyaitāni deyāni bhartuḥ sā hi garīyasī ||

Translation

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അന്നപാനം, മാല, വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ, ആഭരണങ്ങൾ—ഇവയെല്ലാം ഭർത്താവിന് ബ്രാഹ്മണിയേ സമർപ്പിക്കണം; കാരണം ഈ കര്‍ത്തവ്യത്തിൽ അവളാണ് ഏറ്റവും ഗൗരവാർഹ.
