अहिंसयित्वा ब्रह्महत्याविधानम् / Brahmahatyā incurred without physical violence
मार्कण्डेय उवाच अश्वमेधसहस्रं च सत्यं च तुलया धृतम् । नाभिजानामि यद्यस्य सत्यस्यार्धमवाप्तरुयात्
Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca— aśvamedha-sahasraṃ ca satyaṃ ca tulayā dhṛtam | nābhijānāmi yad yasya satyasyārdham avāptum arhati ||
മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—തുലാസിന്റെ ഒരു തട്ടിൽ ആയിരം അശ്വമേധയാഗങ്ങളും മറ്റേ തട്ടിൽ സത്യവും വെച്ച് തൂക്കിയാലും, ആ യാഗങ്ങൾ സത്യത്തിന്റെ പകുതിയെങ്കിലും തുല്യമാകുമോ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറയാൻ കഴിയില്ല. സത്യത്തിന്റെ മൂല്യം അളവറ്റതാണ്.
