संधानस्य पर: कालस्तवेति च पुन: पुनः । न च मे तद् वचो मूढ: कृतवान् स सुमन्दधी: । घातयित्वेह पृथिवीं ततः स निधनं गत:
sandhānasya paraḥ kālas taveti ca punaḥ punaḥ | na ca me tad vaco mūḍhaḥ kṛtavān sa sumandadhīḥ | ghātayitveha pṛthivīṃ tataḥ sa nidhanaṃ gataḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഞാൻ അവനോട് വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇപ്പോൾ നിനക്കു സന്ധിക്കുള്ള ഏറ്റവും ഉചിതകാലമാണ്.” എന്നാൽ ആ മോഹിതനും അതിമന്ദബുദ്ധിയുമായവൻ എന്റെ വാക്ക് അനുസരിച്ചില്ല. ഈ ഭൂമിയിൽ മഹാസംഹാരം വരുത്തി ഒടുവിൽ അവൻ തന്നെ നാശത്തിലേക്ക് പോയി.
