कीर्तितान् कीर्तयिष्यामि सर्वपापप्रमोचनान् । देवताओंके अनन्तर समस्त पापोंसे मुक्त करनेवाले तपस्यामें बढ़े-चढ़े तपःसिद्ध ब्रह्मर्षियोंके प्र्यात नाम बतलाता हूँ
Bhīṣma uvāca — kīrtitān kīrtayiṣyāmi sarva-pāpa-pramocanān | devatābhyaḥ anantaram samasta-pāpebhyo mukta-karaṇe tapasyāṁ baḍhe-caḍhe tapaḥ-siddhān brahmarṣīṇāṁ priyān nāmāni kathayāmi ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ മുമ്പേ കീർത്തിക്കപ്പെട്ട ആ നാമങ്ങളെ വീണ്ടും പ്രസ്താവിക്കും; അവ സർവ്വപാപപ്രമോചനങ്ങളാണ്. ദേവന്മാരുടെ അനന്തരമായി, തപസ്സിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠരായി തപഃസിദ്ധി നേടിയ ബ്രഹ്മർഷിമാരുടെ പ്രിയ നാമങ്ങൾ ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു—അവ സർവ്വപാപങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുമുക്തി നൽകുന്നവയാണ്.
