स्वदेशे परदेशे वाप्यतिथिं नोपवासयेत् । कर्म वै सफल कृत्वा गुरूणां प्रतिपादयेत्
Bhīṣma uvāca | svadeśe paradeśe vāpy atithiṁ nopavāsayet | karma vai saphalaṁ kṛtvā gurūṇāṁ pratipādayet ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സ്വദേശത്തായാലും പരദേശത്തായാലും അതിഥിയെ വിശപ്പോടെ ഇരിക്കാനിടയാക്കരുത്. ഗുരുക്കന്മാർ ഏൽപ്പിച്ച കാര്യം വിജയകരമായി പൂർത്തിയാക്കി, വിനയത്തോടെ അവരെ അറിയിക്കണം.
