प्रदाता सर्वलोकानां विश्व चाप्युच्यते महत् । ज्येष्ठभूतं वदन्त्येनं ब्राह्यणा ऋषयो5परे,ये सम्पूर्ण लोकोंको उनकी अभीष्ट वस्तु देनेवाले हैं। यह महान् विश्व उन्हींका स्वरूप बताया गया है। ब्राह्मण और ऋषि उन्हें सबसे ज्येष्ठ कहते हैं
pradātā sarvalokānāṁ viśva cāpy ucyate mahat | jyeṣṭhabhūtaṁ vadanty enaṁ brāhmaṇā ṛṣayo 'pare ||
അവൻ സകല ലോകങ്ങളുടെയും ദാതാവാണ്—ജീവികൾ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതു നൽകുന്നവൻ. ഈ മഹാവിശ്വവും അവന്റെ തന്നെ സ്വരൂപമെന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് ബ്രാഹ്മണരും മറ്റു ഋഷിമാരും അവനെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠൻ—ആദിയും അഗ്രനും—എന്ന് പറയുന്നു.
