ज्योतिर्भूत: परमोडसौ पुरस्तात् प्रकाशते यत्प्रभया विश्वरूप: । अप: सृष्टवा सर्वभूतात्मयोनि: पुराकरोत् सर्वमेवाथ विश्वम्
jyotirbhūtaḥ paramo 'sau purastāt prakāśate yatprabhayā viśvarūpaḥ | apaḥ sṛṣṭvā sarvabhūtātmayoniḥ purākarot sarvamevātha viśvam ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അവൻ പരമജ്യോതി; കിഴക്കുദിക്കിൽ വിശ്വരൂപം ധരിച്ചു പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകുന്നു; അവന്റെ പ്രഭയാൽ സർവ്വലോകവും പ്രകാശിതമാകുന്നു. അവൻ സർവ്വഭൂതങ്ങളുടെ അന്തരാത്മാവും ജന്മയോനിയും ആകുന്നു. പുരാതനകാലത്ത് ആദ്യം ജലത്തെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ച് പിന്നെ സമസ്ത വിശ്വവും അവൻ ഉത്ഭവിപ്പിച്ചു.
