याधातथ्येन सिद्धस्य इतिहासं पुरातनम्‌ | पराशरमतं दिव्यं शकाय कथितं पुरा

Transliteration

yādhātathyena siddhasya itihāsaṃ purātanam | parāśaramataṃ divyaṃ śakāya kathitaṃ purā ||

Translation

ഇത് സിദ്ധി പ്രാപിച്ച മഹർഷി വേദവ്യാസൻ യഥാർത്ഥമായി പ്രസ്താവിച്ച പുരാതന ഇതിഹാസമാണ്. ഇതിൽ പരാശര മുനിയുടെ ദിവ്യമായ മതം വിവരണപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; പൂർവകാലത്ത് ഇത് ശക്രൻ (ഇന്ദ്രൻ)ക്ക് ഉപദേശിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.
