Educational Q&A

Bhīṣma underscores that certain figures possess exceptional spiritual authority: their tapas and wisdom make each comparable to multiple sages. The implied ethic is to honor true merit and sanctity, recognizing that dharmic power can surpass ordinary social measures.

In the course of instruction, Bhīṣma enumerates four revered personages—Paraśurāma, Vyāsa, Aśvatthāmā, and Lomaśa—and characterizes them as ‘divine sages,’ stating that each individually is equivalent to seven sages in stature.
