Adhyāya 142: Cyavana, the Devas’ Arrogance, and Vāyu’s Counsel on Protecting Brāhmaṇas
दिव्यं शतशलाकं च यज्ञार्थ काउचनं शुभम् | छत्र॑ देवावृधो दत्त्वा ब्राह्मणायास्थितो दिवम्
divyaṁ śataśalākaṁ ca yajñārthaṁ kāñcanaṁ śubham | chatraṁ devāvṛdho dattvā brāhmaṇāyāsthito divam ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ദേവാവൃധൻ എന്ന രാജാവ് യജ്ഞാർത്ഥമായി നൂറു ദണ്ഡുകളുള്ള ദിവ്യവും ശുഭവും സ്വർണമയവുമായ കുട ഒരു ബ്രാഹ്മണന് ദാനം ചെയ്തു; അതിനാൽ അവൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗം പ്രാപിച്ചു.
