Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ

Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony

तमस: परम ज्योतिस्तपस्तद्वृत्तिनां परम्‌ य॑ ज्ञात्वा नानुशोचन्ति वरं तस्माद्‌ वृणीमहे

tamasāḥ paraṃ jyotis tapaḥ tadvṛttināṃ param | yaṃ jñātvā nānuśocanti varaṃ tasmād vṛṇīmahe ||

അവൻ അജ്ഞാന-തമസ്സിന് അതീതമായ ചിന്മയ പരമജ്യോതി; തപസ്സിൽ നിരതർക്കുള്ള പരമ തപസ്സ്; അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞ ജ്ഞാനികൾ ഒരിക്കലും ശോകിക്കുന്നില്ല—ആ ഭഗവാൻ ശിവനോടാണ് ഞങ്ങൾ വരം ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നത്.
