एवं वै परम धर्म प्रशंसन्ति मनीषिण: । प्राणा यथा55त्मनो5भीष्टा भूतानामपि वै तथा
evaṁ vai parama-dharmaṁ praśaṁsanti manīṣiṇaḥ | prāṇā yathā ātmano ’bhīṣṭā bhūtānām api vai tathā ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇങ്ങനെ മनीഷികൾ അഹിംസാരൂപമായ പരമധർമ്മത്തെ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു. ഒരുവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണൻ പ്രിയമായിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, എല്ലാ ജീവികൾക്കും അവരുടെ അവരുടെ പ്രാണൻ പ്രിയമാണ്।
