अक्रोधन: सत्यवादी भूतानामविहिंसक: । अनसूयुरजिद्दाश्व शतं वर्षाणि जीवति
Translation
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ക്രോധരഹിതനും സത്യവാദിയും സർവ്വഭൂതങ്ങളോടും അഹിംസകനും കുറ്റദൃഷ്ടിയില്ലാത്തവനും കപടരഹിതനും ആയവൻ നൂറുവർഷം ജീവിക്കുന്നു. അവൻ സമാഹിതചിത്തനായി പ്രഭാതത്തിലും സായാഹ്നത്തിലും മാത്രം ഭക്ഷിക്കണം; ഇടവേളകളിൽ ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്. ബലപ്രയോഗത്തോടെ (അനുചിതമായി) ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്; മറ്റൊരാളുടെ ശ്രാദ്ധഭക്ഷണവും സ്വീകരിക്കരുത്.
