kālanemir iti khyāto dānavānāṁ mahābalaḥ | sa kaṁsa iti vikhyāta ugrasenāsuto balī ||
The verse conveys a moral-cosmic idea central to the epic: adharma is not merely a single event but a recurring force that can re-emerge through rebirth, and the preservation of dharma involves recognizing and confronting such recurring patterns of destructive power.
In the Aṁśāvataraṇa (partial-incarnation) account, Vaiśampāyana identifies a continuity of beings across births: the Dānava Kālanemi is said to have become Kaṁsa, the powerful son of Ugrasena, thereby linking earlier asuric hostility to later historical events in the Yādava context.
