Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
नाहं दद्यां प्रियं पुत्र मम प्राणैर्गरीयसम् । समय: क्रियतामेष न शक््यमतिवर्तितुम्
nāhaṃ dadyāṃ priyaṃ putra mama prāṇair garīyasam | samayaḥ kriyatām eṣa na śakyam ativartitum ||
“എന്റെ പ്രിയപുത്രൻ എനിക്ക് പ്രാണത്തേക്കാൾ മഹത്തായ പ്രിയൻ; അതിനാൽ ഞാൻ അവനെ അനേകം ദിവസങ്ങൾക്കായി നൽകാൻ കഴിയില്ല. അവൻ മർത്ത്യലോകത്തിൽ പാർക്കേണ്ട കാലപരിധി നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ—ആ പരിധി ലംഘിക്കാനാവില്ല.”
