The verse emphasizes a dharmic priority: for preserving and redeeming one’s lineage, begetting offspring through marriage can be indispensable, even for an ascetic. Spiritual disciplines are praised, yet the narrative frames progeny as a unique means of sustaining family continuity and fulfilling obligations to kin/ancestors.
Takṣaka urges the interlocutor (who has witnessed the plight of Jaratkāru’s kin) to report everything fully to the sage Jaratkāru and to persuade him to accept marriage and produce children, so that his endangered relatives may be saved from their downfall.
