വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു— പാർത്ഥനോടു (അർജുനനോടു) മത്സരാഗ്നിയിൽ ജ്വലിച്ചിരുന്ന സൂതപുത്രൻ കർണ്ണൻ—അത്യന്തം അമർഷനും അപമാനം സഹിക്കാത്തവനും—ദുര്യോധനന്റെ ആശ്രയം തേടി, ആ പിന്തുണയുടെ ബലത്തിൽ പാണ്ഡവരെ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും അവമാനിച്ചു.
