Droṇa’s Ācārya-Dakṣiṇā: Capture of Drupada and Division of Pāñcāla (द्रोण-आचार्यदक्षिणा)
ततो दुर्योधनस्तत्र हृदयेन हसन्निव | कृतकृत्यमिवात्मानं मन्यते पुरुषाधम:
tato duryodhanas tatra hṛdayena hasann iva | kṛtakṛtyam ivātmānaṃ manyate puruṣādhamaḥ ||
അപ്പോൾ അവിടെ ദുര്യോധനൻ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ തന്നെ ചിരിക്കുന്നവനെന്നപോലെ—ആ പുരുഷാധമൻ—താൻ കൃതകൃത്യനായി എന്നു കരുതി. ഉള്ളിൽ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം കത്തിയുടെ धारപോലെ മൂർച്ചയായിരുന്നു; പക്ഷേ പുറത്ത് അവൻ അമൃതം ചൊരിയുന്നതുപോലെ മധുരവാക്കുകൾ പറഞ്ഞു. സഹോദരനെന്നപോലെയും ഹിതൈഷിയായ സുഹൃത്തെന്നപോലെയും നടിച്ച്, ഭീമസേനനു വേണ്ടി പലവിധ ഭക്ഷ്യങ്ങൾ അവൻ തന്നേ വിളമ്പിത്തുടങ്ങി. ഭീമൻ ഭക്ഷണത്തിലെ ദോഷം അറിയാത്തവൻ; അതിനാൽ ദുര്യോധനൻ എത്ര വിളമ്പിയതോ അതെല്ലാം അവൻ കഴിച്ചു. അത് കണ്ട നീചനായ ദുര്യോധനൻ മനസ്സിൽ തന്നെ സന്തോഷിച്ച് താൻ വിജയിച്ചുവെന്ന് വിചാരിച്ചു.
