FAQs

It functions as a purification and protection formula: before or during Shiva-puja, devotees invoke Shiva’s accomplished devotees (Siddhas) and guardian beings (Yakshas) to dispel mala—ritual and inner impurity—so the worship becomes fit and effective.

Shiva is implied as Pati, the supreme purifier: devotion to His feet (pada-archana) becomes the channel through which impurities are removed, aided by His cosmic attendants and protectors who uphold the sacred space of worship.

Shiva-pada-archana (worship of Shiva’s feet) and a protective invocation (raksha/prashamana) aimed at removing mala—aligning with Shaiva discipline where purification of the pashu precedes deeper Pashupata-oriented practice.
