Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva’s names to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It presents Shiva as the cosmic support and source (Mahāgarbha), teaching that Linga-puja is worship of the very ground of creation and the refuge of all beings.
Shiva is shown as Pati who both transcends qualities (the dark, unfathomable Kṛṣṇavarṇa) and also shines as pure auspicious consciousness (Suvarṇa), pervading all appearances (Sarvavarṇika) while remaining the inner ruler (Indriya).
Sense-mastery aligned with Pashupata discipline is implied by “Indriya”: the sādhaka restrains and offers the senses to Pati through Linga-puja, japa, and inward recollection.
