Suta Goswami
It functions as a phala-śruti: it seals the teaching by declaring that śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of the Purāṇic account itself yields a liberating fruit, encouraging devotion and regular engagement with Śaiva revelation.
Indirectly, it reflects the Śaiva view that liberation for the paśu (bound soul) comes through contact with sacred teaching and devotion; even when the stated fruit is “Viṣṇuloka,” the purport remains that grace and right hearing dissolve pāśa (bondage) and lead toward the supreme divine state.
Śravaṇa and pāṭha are highlighted as primary sādhana—devotional disciplines aligned with Śaiva practice—serving as accessible means that purify the paśu and support progress toward mokṣa alongside pūjā and Pāśupata-oriented discipline.
