FAQs

By warning against greed and excess, the verse points to inner restraint (vairāgya) as a prerequisite for clarity of consciousness—supporting the dharmic basis for realizing the Self beyond possession and craving.

It emphasizes aparigraha (non-hoarding) and disciplined living—ethical foundations that support Yoga practice by reducing distraction, dependency, and attachment, aligning conduct with spiritual steadiness.

Indirectly: the shared dharma-yoga ethic of restraint is presented as universally binding, reflecting the Kurma Purana’s Shaiva–Vaishnava synthesis where right conduct supports devotion and liberation regardless of sectarian emphasis.
